Plan for Implementing Post-Inspection Activities on Food Safety in 2024

To enhance the effectiveness of food safety management and ensure food safety for the public, while contributing to socio-economic development, the Central Inter-Agency Steering Committee on Food Safety has issued Plan No. 92/KH-BCĐTƯATTP on January 18, 2024, to implement post-inspection activities for food safety in 2024.

At the central level, the Central Inter-Agency Steering Committee on Food Safety will conduct two inter-agency inspections as follows: an inter-agency inspection for food safety during the Lunar New Year (Tet) and the Spring Festival season in 2024, along with an inter-agency inspection for food safety during the Food Safety Action Month in 2024.

During these inspection phases, the Steering Committee will issue plans to guide ministries, sectors, and localities in organizing inspection teams, including members of the Steering Committee and relevant functional ministries and sectors. Additionally, the food safety testing facilities of the Ministry of Health and relevant specialized ministries will be summoned to participate in inspections, and when necessary, other capable labs will be called upon to support state management in food safety.

At the local level, the Inter-Agency Steering Committee on Food Safety of provinces and centrally-run cities has assigned the Department of Health to lead and coordinate with relevant departments and sectors in developing plans and implementing continuous routine post-inspections. This includes self-declaration of products/product registration, testing products/product groups based on the principle of assigning responsibility for food safety management as specified in Decree No. 15/2018/NĐ-CP dated February 2, 2018, of the Government.

For localities that have established Departments/Boards of Food Safety Management, they will advise on constructing plans and implementing inspection tasks. Simultaneously, they will also conduct post-inspections of food service businesses, street food, and carry out food safety management tasks according to government regulations.
