Decree 15/2018/NĐ-CP: Elaboration of some articles of the law of food safety

Decree No. 15/2018/ND-CP guides the Food Safety Law in Vietnam. According to this decree:

– Food production and business facilities are allowed to self-declare their products through public information channels, their electronic information portals, or display at their headquarters. The self-declared products include: pre-packaged processed food, food additives, food processing aids, food containers, and materials directly in contact with food, except for: Product groups: products and production materials imported solely for manufacturing, processing for export, or for internal production use (not consumed domestically).

– Product groups requiring product  registration procedures:

+ Dietary supplements, medical foods, food for special dietary uses.

+ Dietary products for children up to 36 months.

+ Mixed food additives with new uses, food additives that are not on the list of permitted food additives or not used for intended foods as prescribed by the Ministry of Health (hereinafter referred to as “unregistered food additives”).

Decree No. 15/2018/ND-CP came into effect on February 2, 2018, replacing Decree No. 38/2012/ND-CP dated April 25, 2012
