Decree 43/2017/ND-CP stipulates the labeling requirements for goods, which must include the following information:
– Product name
– Origin of the goods
– Name and address of the organization or individual responsible for the goods
– Other information depending on the nature of the goods
For instance, product labels must also include quantity, production date, expiration date, ingredients, warning information, usage instructions, and storage instructions.
1. The production date and expiration date are to be recorded on the product label
According to the order of day, month, year in the Gregorian calendar, as specified in Decree No. 43/ND-CP.
If it is mandatory to state both the production date and expiration date, and the product label already includes the production date, then the expiration date can be indicated as a period from the production date, and vice versa.
2. Origin and warning information on product labels:
According to Decree 43, organizations and individuals involved in production and import are responsible for indicating the origin of the goods (country or territory where the goods are produced) following regulations on goods’ origin or agreements of which Vietnam is a member.
Additionally, technical specifications and warning information must comply with legal regulations, if any, according to Decree 43/2017.
3. The valid date: Decree 43/2017/ND-CP, governing product labeling, the manner of labeling, and mandatory information on product labels, has been in validity since June 1, 2017. Simultaneously, Decree 89/2006/ND-CP on product labeling is repealed.
